| The Ultimate Do-it-yourself facial
by Ann Leisure
Throw on those bunny slippers ladies, it's time to treat yourself right. You don't need to go to a salon to get a first- rate beauty treatment, you can whip up everything you need in your very own kitchen.
1. Wash your face with olive oil by pouring a few drops on a cotton ball and gently wiping your face.
2. Fill your largest cooking pot with water and bring to a boil. Add 3 chamomile tea bags and 3 peppermint tea bags. Remove the pot from the stove and find a comfy spot-- you'll need to be able to lean over the pot for at least 10 minutes.
Grab a bath towel and drape it over your head and the pot, forming a tent. Don't get too close to the water, because you don't want to burn yourself.
The steam bath will open your pores and loosen all the dirt and yuckies hiding in them. The next few steps will scrub all of these away.
You might want to set a timer, just to make sure you have steamed a full ten minutes. Also, a shower cap will help keep your hair out of the way. Save the water for step 4
3. Spray your face with your homemade astringent. If you have oily skin, use the recipe on the right. If you have normal or dry skin, make a solution of lemon juice and water by mixing the juice of 1/2 a lemon with 1/2 cup of water.
4. Gently scrub your face with the yogurt and sugar scrub. St Ives. Apricot Scrub or any other similar exfoliating scrub works too.
Wash the exfoliant off with warm water.
Dip a washcloth in your left over steaming water. The water should still be warm. Cover your face with washcloth and leave for 5 minutes.
5. Apply the homemade mask and let dry. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Or, if you have a favorite mud mask, now is the time to use it.
Voila! Your skin is now clean and fabulous. Now wasn't that easy?
