Logan's Run

by Dee Dee

The future is perfect. People live in a domed city and jet between shiny buildings in little plastic tubes. Everyone is young and foxy, and having lots of casual sex. But there's a hitch. Hit 30 and it's all over.

On your 30th birthday, called Last Day, you put on a red and white leotard, walk into an arena full of people, then float in mid-air until you explode. In Logan's Run, it's called the carousel, and it's a mighty treacherous ride.

Logan is a Sandman. He's hunky, blonde, and on the lookout for 30-somethings who are trying to run away from their date with a fiery death. Then it's his turn, and he wants to run.

One night, in a fit of carnal lust, Logan meets the ultra-foxy Jessica 6-- a 20-something linked to the underground that smuggles 30-somethings to safety outside of the city.

We think he likes her so much because she doesn't put out on the first date.

Logan manages to escape the city, only to discover a post-apocolypse Washington DC. Yes, in the spirit of Planet of the Apes, we get see a moss-covered Lincoln Memorial and wade through the reflecting pool at the Washington Monument so Logan can discover what it means to grow old.

But boys are never satisfied. So Logan decides to return to the city to tell everyone that they can live a long and happy life, rather than burst into flames at 30. Does anybody listen? We'll let you find out on your own....

Logan's Run has it all-- foxy babes, hot boys, a real plot, and Farrah Fawcett in a short dress working as a receptionist in a space-age plastic surgeon's office. It's got outfits that would make the costume designer on the set of Buck Rogers sweaty, and it's got a silver man-eating robot. Who could object?
