Denise's New Orleans pad is an old-timey uptown Greek revival with a lot of character and plenty of leaky windows to match. It's constantly a work in progress, since old houses are like old cars: something always needs to be fixed. But, for all its faults it's home and I love it.
The bedroom my mother-in-law made the purple quilt with pieces of my wedding dress. The computer study, where Pussycat Magazine is made.
My bathroom reminds me of summer camp or vacations in a cabin. The walls are made of 19th century barge board. The medallion and chandelier in the double parlor. The house was built in the 1850s, so it's got plenty of old-timey details and materials.
The green room has a free-standing fireplace in the middle. This side of the fireplace is the TV and music room, the other is the dining room and sewing room. The nightstand in our candy-pink guest bedroom.
All bathrooms have at least one Elvis salute (he died in a bathroom). This is the velvet Elvis in the powder room. Buddha with space age bubble lamp on my nightstand.
The second story balcony attached to my bedroom. The view of the Japanese Magnolias in my backyard, taken from my rear hallway.
